Committee was formed after the collapse and subsequent fire on January 10, 1860, of the Pemberton Mill, a cotton mill owned by the Pemberton Manufacturing Company of Lawrence, Mass. Eighty-eight workers were killed and 315 were injured. The committee included Daniel Saunders, Jr., Charles S. Storrow, Henry K. Oliver, William C. Chapin, John C.
